Commissioner Steve Tyson

Steve Tyson is a lifelong resident of Craven County. After graduating from New Bern High School in 1973 he joined and served active duty in the US Army. Upon completion of his 3 year tour-of-duty he attended Craven Community College as a business major, while working part time building homes.

From 1979-1980 he studied and passed the required state exams for the North Carolina real estate brokers license. and the North Carolina general contractors license.

In 1982 at the age of 26, he started his own business, Tyson Construction & Restoration.

In the past 24 years, Steve Tyson has built and restored hundreds of homes throughout Craven County and Eastern NC.

Steve's many years of experience in the business and private sectors is highly beneficial to the taxpayers of Craven County.

        Commissoner Lee Kyle Allen, Chairman

Lee K. Allen was born in 1936 in Stephensen, W. Va.. Married to Norita Allen in 1955, they have two adult children and one grandchild. He served 22 years in the US Navy, attaining the rank of Command Master Chief Petty Officer.

Commissioner Allen's Civic affiliations are: Member of "The Order of The Long Leaf Pine"; Cherry Point Masonic Lodge 688; Scottish Rite Bodies, 33 degree; member Craven County Concert Band, plus many more worthy organizations.

Public Services include: Commissioner for City of Havelock, 1983-1994: Commissioner for Craven County, 1994 to present. While serving as a Craven County Commissioner, Mr. Allen has served on many Boards that require a County Commissioner's membership. Mr. Allen also was Chairman of the Craven County Board of Commissioners.

Commissioner Allen is a strong advocate of lower taxes for all County residents.
